Understanding surveillance concerns

Surveillance accessibility

Small devices.
Real exposure.

Covert microphones, miniature cameras, cellular transmitters and tracking devices are inexpensive and widely available. They can be concealed in everyday objects, electrical fittings, furniture, vehicles and electronic equipment. Finding them takes more than a scan for radio signals. Effective TSCM combines electronic detection, careful physical inspection and experienced interpretation to assess what is present in the environment.

Professional assessment

Clear findings.
Informed decisions.

When surveillance is suspected, assumptions alone cannot establish what is happening. A professional TSCM inspection examines the environment methodically, using electronic detection and physical inspection to assess the concern. Findings are documented, with clear recommendations based on the conditions observed at the time. This structured assessment gives you a practical basis for deciding what to do next.

Signal interpretation

Every signal
needs context.

Modern offices contain legitimate radio and electronic activity from Wi-Fi, cellular devices, cordless phones, video conferencing, Bluetooth peripherals and building systems. Detecting a signal does not, by itself, establish a threat. Professional TSCM identifies, locates and assesses unexplained activity while documenting normal infrastructure. Experienced interpretation and instrument cross-checks help distinguish everyday communications from signals that need further investigation.

Confidential consultation

Contact us from a device you trust where possible. We obtain sufficient information to understand the concern, premises, areas to be inspected and the circumstances that gave rise to the request.

Scope and operational planning

We establish the inspection areas, access requirements, timing and any confidentiality considerations. Where appropriate, inspections can be scheduled after hours or when the premises are unoccupied.

Technical and physical inspection

The premises are inspected methodically using multiple RF and digital transmission detectors, hidden-camera detection equipment and detailed physical examination of accessible areas and infrastructure.

Findings and report

Significant observations are documented photographically. The client receives a written report detailing the areas inspected, equipment used, observations, findings and recommendations.

Multiple complementary
detection technologies.

Secure Sweep uses multiple complementary detection technologies rather than relying on a single RF detector.

Our equipment includes specialist multi-band RF detectors, digital transmission detectors, directional microwave antennas and optical hidden-camera detection systems.

Different instruments are used to cross-check unusual signals and assist with distinguishing normal telecommunications activity from signals requiring further investigation.

  • Unmarked vehicles where operationally appropriate
  • After-hours and weekend inspections available
  • Confidential findings and reporting
  • Access and cover arrangements agreed with the authorised client representative

Before you call.

How much does a TSCM sweep cost?

Pricing is primarily determined by the size and complexity of the area to be inspected. Corporate and premises inspections are generally calculated according to the square metres requiring examination, with additional costs applicable for travel outside the normal service area and specialist deployment requirements.

A formal quotation is provided before commencement.

How long does a sweep take?

The duration depends on the size, layout and complexity of the environment. A lightly furnished office can be examined considerably faster than a technically complex boardroom containing extensive audiovisual, network and communications infrastructure. We can normally provide a better time estimate once the premises and scope are understood.

What happens if a suspicious device is found?

Suspected surveillance equipment is documented in situ before it is disturbed. Depending on the circumstances, we may recommend preserving the device for forensic examination, legal proceedings or collection by SAPS rather than immediately removing or disabling it. Any action is discussed with the authorised client representative.

Can you guarantee that no surveillance device exists?

No professional TSCM provider should make an absolute guarantee. An inspection establishes whether suspicious devices, unexplained transmissions or other indicators were identified under the conditions present at the time of examination.

This is why Secure Sweep combines electronic detection with detailed physical inspection rather than relying on RF detection alone.
